Quick, social games on the iOS–what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Yep, you got it–town-builder sims or animal breeding sims. Fish Party Online, however, is a horse of a different color and brings a social party mini-game.
Fish Party Online, includes over a handful of fun mini-games that all share one theme– fish. You play as a fish and move along via a virtual analog stick as well as implementing certain actions by tapping on the screen. These easy-to-grasp controls enable fun pick up and play with friends (or strangers) in minutes.
Each of the mini-games, although similar, offers a different scenario. My favorite is “Eat Small Fish” in which you start off as a small fish and must eat smaller fish to grow all the while avoiding being eaten by a larger fish. This mode played with friends brings chaotic fun. There are team modes too, some akin to Pac-Man along with others, but I’ll let you discover them for yourself. Best of all is that there’s always people playing online so you’ll have someone to play with (or at least at the time of this review).
Fish Party Online has a few more addictive offerings such as you can unlock different fish apparel or speedier fish, or if you like to collect (not hoard) you’re in for a treat here. These options are available only after you complete the required level. This never became annoying and instead pushed me to do a couple more playthroughs to see if I could level up just…once…more….
The Bottom Line: 8.5/10
Fish Party Online is a fun social game that is perfect for casual and hard core gamers alike.
