If you asked me anything to do with finances a few years ago I would have said…no comprende. But as fate would have it my father-in-law is a CPA and his favorite topic to discuss is finances. It should go by without saying that by default I know more than I ever wanted. While the conversations may fall on the dull side, learning about the financial world doesn’t have to be boring and that’s exactly what Wonga Bazaar – Fantasy Financial Lab tries to do.
While I still resist anything to do with finances, Wonga Bazaar takes a different approach and turns a stock market game into something fun. With each level you’re given a handful of different things to invest in. You’ll start off with trading grains, corn, rice as well as other things of that nature. The good thing about this is that these products are cheap so you’ll be able to get your feet wet and start investing right away. Down the road after you get a bit more familiar with trading you’ll take your knowledge and start trading and buying jewels. At this stage everything costs much more so you’ll have to use your skills as well as your instincts to turn a profit.
Why this works so well is that during each level you need to listen to the news and invest in a product when the stock has gone down and of course sell it when it the price is at a high. The selling, buying, as well as reading what’s happening in the stock market is all at your fingertips. Just tap on the newspaper pile to see where stocks are headed and buying/selling products is done in a similar fashion. With a great pace for each stage, everything being accessible at your fingertips (UI), and the fact that Wonga Bazaar is educational makes this a very friendly app to dive into and better understand the market.
The Bottom Line: 8.5/10 (Great)
Wonga Bazaar is a fantastic edutainment app that demonstrates the main basics of buying and selling stocks, or in this case products.
