When it comes to classic games I would easily say that Breakout has always held a soft spot in my heart. There’s just  something about the simple nature of breaking bricks with a ball and paddle aaah…nostalgia. While I’ve played variations of Breakout over the years, Atari has teamed up with Zynga and released the most innovative reincarnation of this classic–Super Bunny Breakout.

Most noteworthy iOS casual games have an interesting theme and Atari is no slouch in this department. The ball is replaced with a superhero-wannabe bunny that rolls up into a ball and you’ll use him to bounce and smash objects in the stage and free trapped animals from a testing facility. Gone are the bricks and now you’re smashing through chains, beakers, cages and anything else that you’d find in an evil facility such as this.

This however is more than a visual makeover. Each of these different objects react to the ball…err rabbit in different manners. If all this is thrumming your nostalgic feelings towards Breakout you’ll have gameplay aplenty that brings back childhood memories. Or if you’re new to Breakout this brings this classic formula and seamlessly combines it with what we expect in our games today.

The Bottom Line: 8/10 (Great)

Super Bunny Breakout takes the classic formula of Breakout’s past and combines it with interesting physics, different types of balls (you’ll just have to play it to find out what I mean by this), and a theme that will make you guffaw.
