Purchase Game $Free About our AppStore Bite Articles
I keep up on new app releases in several ways, developer and publisher requests, and frequent (daily) checking up on the iTunes AppStore roster as well as many, many individual requests. This time around (iTunes) PizzaDriver looked like a promising arcade game.
First off is the cool gimmick that if you have the highest score in PizzaDriver for that day, the developers will buy you a pizza and have it shipped right to you. How cool is that?!
Gimmicks aside, PizzaDriver places you in the role of a pizza delivery boy who must deliver pizzas in a set time limit. This plays out in what feels like an endless-runner where you control your pizza guy by tapping on the screen for gas, let go to jump, and press again on the screen to land the jump. Endless runner?. No. Instead the levels are predetermined which can be a great thing but in this case…not so much.
The time limit for each level is as narrow as can be and for the first few play sessions you’ll most likely play the same few levels over and over. Repetitive. By the time I was good enough the fun factor had faded. Repetitive. I know the early levels by heart and no longer want to play them. So what can I do? Throw down some cash to continue or buy a faster scooter. While I don’t mind paying a little extra for a scooter, they’d need to pay me to continue with the status quo. PizzaDriver is sorta funnish for a short while if you want the free pizza that badly.
The Bottom Line: 6/10 (Fair)
PizzaDriver’s presentation is topnotch and is so close to becoming an addictive casual game if it wasn’t for the repetitiveness if you don’t spend money on continues.
