An asteroid has already hit the earth and destroyed the majority of life (in the past). History has a way of repeating itself and now we face the threat of another asteroid hitting earth in Boom The Rock.

The earth only has one last chance of survival in Boom The Rock and that’s to destroy the on coming asteroid  with a missile. The only downside is that our missiles are way to weak so we’re going to need to shoot a rocket into space, collect all of the extra missiles floating around space, and finally use this extra fire power to blow up the asteroid that’s coming at you in each level.

Determining the rockets path is creative and unlike any other line-puzzler that we’ve come across. The rocket’s path is already connected to the asteroid but there’s going to be space junk, meteors, and other such things in the way of your rocket and the asteroid. So the puzzle aspect of altering the rockets path is ingeniously done by having certain points along the path be used to control the curve of the path. This new but easy to grasp puzzle mechanic continued to amaze me throughout my gaming session.

Boom The Rock stays fresh through every level with the introduction of new elements such as satellites that shoot out beams, but it’s not the new obstacles that make Boom The Rock great. Instead it’s the knowledge that the asteroid is always moving toward you which can eliminate some of the hazards by running into them as well as changing how you need to approach the same level. If you like a casual yet challenging gaming experience this is a must.

Boom The Rock is one of the more innovative puzzles games that we’ve played in a while as well as being friendly for gamers of almost any skill level.
