Times have changed from my school days’. My brother and I shared an annoying bugle blowing cat alarm clock (that had a broken face from my brother throwing it against the wall one morning), to being 100% reliant on my phone’s alarm. Sure the phone alarm works and has a few options but it’s clearly not as cool as Night Stand HD 2.
Night Stand HD 2 is simply that: a nifty alarm clock with a few more bells and whistles both literally and not. You can set the alarm to wake up to birds, spring sounds, a girl screaming (what a peaceful way to start your day), to creating a playlist from the music stored on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch. Besides choosing the sound, you can also change the appearance of the clock to your preference.
If you think that you all the clocks will be available from the get-go you’re absolutely crazy! Nah, instead you’re going to need to earn them by waking up on time. Wake up early enough as little as 3 days in a row and you can unlock a new clock. This gives a fun game-like approach to waking up. The funny-sad thing is that it was kinda fun waking up with Night Stand HD 2 and earning points.
There are a few other cool features that transforms Night Stand HD 2 from a good app to a great app. If you sync Night Stand HD 2 to iCloud you can then sync your alarm settings on all of your different iDevices instead of having to re-input everything. You can also display the current weather…very easy to read even with sleepy eyes. There’s an absolutely obnoxious snooze button that has requires you to play a mini game after hitting it too many times (6 times). And the coolest feature is if you have your iDevice’s screen completely dim, you can double tap the screen to display the time or have the screen be pitch black (this way the lighted screen won’t keep you up). These and other cool features has made Night Stand HD 2 become my new alarm clock and it really should become yours as well.
The Bottom Line: 9/10 (Super!)
Night Stand HD 2 is a beautiful and more importantly very useful alarm clock app.
