iOS games are notoriously shunned by “Hard Core Gamers” being labeled “easy, “casual”, and other slights. The thing is that there are iOS games for every skill level and every genre.

The Iron Mouse caters to people that desire a challenge. The premise behind The Iron Mouse may lull you into assuming that it is a simple game. There’s a iron mouse that constantly runs around on small pieces of platforms and you must tap on the screen to have the mouse jump/double jump from platform to platform all while collecting the three pieces of cheese placed in each level. You’re doing all this while avoiding robotic cats and other such hazards and finding power-ups (i.e. missiles and shields) to help you in your cheese collecting quest.

As of now challenge-gamer junkies are likely yawning with this ‘simplistic’ concept. Not so fast junkies…The Iron Mouse is probably one of the more challenging iOS games we’ve gotten our smudgy little (I mean big) fingers on. Very early on each jump/double jump is crucial to beating the stage. Early on deaths pile up but if you learn from your mistakes you will progress (hopefully). Even though I can generally play through iOS and console games without breaking a little sweat, The Iron Mouse stumped me in the first world. If it’s a challenge that you want than don’t pay attention to “The Bottom Line” score and download it now.

The Bottom Line: 7/10 (Good)

If you’re looking to be challenged The Iron Mouse is for you. If you’re a gamer that finds death after death equals frustration (not fun frustration) than pass this one by.
