When it comes to keeping preschoolers busy there are many apps to choose, some are pure entertainment (a.k.a. you get to drink that coffee in peace), others edutainment. Mix 2 Color combines both of these concepts in one tidy art app.
On the lighter side of things (Draw a Picture Mode) Mix 2 Color is an activity coloring book that includes 18 coloring pages with a handful of colors as well as stamps to design to their liking…all standard so far. But it’s the edutainment side of things that helps Mix 2 Color stand out from the other apps.
The edutainment aspect is found in “Color a Picture” mode which focuses on learning colors. Here there’ll be a picture of the final image along with a blank coloring page where they’ll need to fill in the colors to match the final image. At times it can be as simple as using primary colors to match the final image. However, there’s more than primary colors used so they’ll need to learn how to mix them to create the correct color. If you need orange you’ll need to combine red with yellow, or to get green you’ll need to choose yellow and blue. This mode might be a little tricky for some children to use on their own so be sure that you’re there to guide and encourage them.
The Bottom Line: 7/10 (Good)
Mix 2 Color is a non-messy and entertaining way to learn about colors.
