If you’re one to like puzzle platformers than I got some great news for you. iSpherical was just released for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and the iPad. Skipping the beating around the bush bit I’m getting straight to the point–it’s great.
In iSpherical you play as a wizard that can create blocks in the air that’ll be used in several ways: trapping an enemy, making a walkway, to more likely creating stair-like platforms to jump up and down. The great thing about this is how well the controls are implemented allowing you to focus on beating each stage rather than your thumb placement on the virtual controls.
How to beat each stage…make sure that the sphere in each stage gets to the portal. In the early stages this’ll be easy with simplistic puzzles along with allowing you to play at your own pace. Fast forward a couple worlds and now you’ll find that the puzzles of each level become much more complex with the introduction of new elements such as portals that zap the wizard to a new location and the ability to shift gravity. Oh yeah, there’s generally a lot more hazards and enemies to avoid in these stages as well. This difficulty curve makes this fantastic for the casual player. For the more seasoned gamers out there do I have some news for you. I left out a small tidbit and that’s the last couple of worlds. Not only is the difficulty of the puzzles much more challenging, the pacing is astronomically ramped up and your platforming skills are going to really be put to the test.
The Bottom Line: 9/10 (Super!)
The review says it all. iSpherical is a phenomenal puzzle platformer that can be enjoyed no matter how well your gaming skills are.
