Purchase Game $0.99 About our AppStore Bite Articles
With Chilibite’s first entry, Stunt Bunnies Circus, in the iTunes AppStore they’ve brought some of the more awkwardly-cute characters to hit the iOS. Now with their second outing,The Mordis they prove that they’re not a one trick pony.
Like Stunt Bunnies Circus (sorry I tried not to mention it again but I couldn’t help myself), The Mordis has an ultra morbid sense of humor that’s oozes cuteness. This time around Mr. Sugar encounters the mordis and thinks that they’re sweeter than candy so he captures these fluffy white balls and brings them to his hideout all while humming “cotton candy, cotton candy…”. Cute and Morbid? Yup.
This time around it’s up to you to guide a non-captured Mordis over gaps, pits and other hazards until it reaches the end of each level. Because this plays out in a Lemmings–ish fashion with the Mordis blindly walking, you’ll need to make sure that it’s path is clear. The other part of The Mordis is physics-puzzle based requiring you to figure out how to navigate past the hazards by placing wooden planks over spikes, placing springboards or building bridges…to mention a few.
The puzzles stay interesting by throwing a multitude of hazards which slowly increases the challenge. Best of all is that you’re generally given enough pieces to play with allowing for a variety of solutions for each level! This is fantastic since it helps in the replay area since The Mordis falls on the short side.
While I just reviewed a similar control scheme with Amazing Alex, I can’t help but say that placing pieces in The Mordis is night and day better. It’s much easier to rotate, place and erase pieces. The touch UI alone brings a much more enjoyable experience.
The Bottom Line: 8.5 (Great)
The Mordis is a tad on the short side but it makes up for it with the creative and challenging puzzles as well as each level offering multiple solutions.
