Note: If I get my hands on a real GYMBOSS I will update this article with a comparison.
I had a shocking revelation when passing a mirror the other day. It seems that working in graphic design has transformed my once in shape physique into something suspiciously akin to the Comic Book Guy in the Simpsons! Thankfully, I tend to exaggerate so I’m not quite there…yet. So what do I do now?
I started a new workout and downloaded a handful of interval timer apps and noticed that every one I downloaded was made up of awfulness. Some fell asleep, leaving me blind to what Rep I was on etc. Others were more clunky than a beaten down 80’s Ford. I was about to give up on using a interval timer app but then something clicked, I knew that GYMBOSS makes fantastic timers (or at least that’s what I’ve heard) and checked to see if they had an app. They do, GYMBOSS 2 Interval Timer, so I tried it out and found that it’s easily the best one yet and the icing on the cake is that it’s free…mmmmm cake…
Astonishingly for a free app, GYMBOSS 2 Interval Timer has a significant amount of customization along with being completely streamlined (honestly this app shouldn’t be free). There’s default timers that’ll give you a nice starting place if you’re new to the whole Reps and Sets idea. More importantly is that eventually you’ll want to create your own timers in which GYMBOSS 2 Interval Timer enables numerous. In each timer you can set reps, color code it, name it, how many rounds, and even program a countdown. Without boring you with all the details there’s even more that can be tailor fit for your needs. Over the past few weeks I’ve created new timers and each time I’m completely blown away.
Streamlining my experience further is the ability to sort my timer list on the fly (oh and you can edit your timers in seconds) A stopwatch is included and does what you’d most likely expect including recording Lap times so if you find yourself going on a jog or sprint or whatever this extra feature is the icing on the…why do I need to live down the street from a bakery damn it.
The Bottom Line:
I find myself becoming transformed from Comic Book Guy to Ned Flanders stand in with much thanks to GYMBOSS 2 Interval Timer. If you’ve been turned off by other interval timers, you absolutely must download this and you’ll be amazed at how helpful this app is.
