March 24, 2011 Update: Good thing I decided to play Samurai II: Vengeance on my iPad this week! We can’t wait to get our hands on this! We will have a review of Samurai II: Vengeance up shortly.
March 17th, 2011 Update: Madfinger Games announced this morning that Samurai II: Vengeance will be released next Thursday.
Update: Samurai II was just submitted to the Mac App Store Yesterday
Madfinger Announced that Samurai II will be released on the Mac App Store sometime this month. If you missed Samurai II when it was released last year on the iPhone/iPad, it was (and still is) one of the best visual games released for the ios platform.
The graphics of this brainless bloody brawler are made up with beautifully detailed cell-shaded environments and characters that make it look like your playing a comic book. There were times where I would just stop playing and just absorb the atmosphere. To accompany the cell-shaded look all the cutscenes are done in comic book form. Madfinger did wonders pushing the ios so let’s see how they push this game with a much more powerful platform. I can’t be the only one drooling thinking about playing this on a larger screen then what the iPad offers!
The gameplay of Samuria II has changed from the original games swipe controls to a virtual controller. The controls are tight and responsive–even for a virtual controller. So why is this so great? It’s fantastic assuming that the game will offer controller support making the game play that much better on the Mac. If it’s only keyboard and mouse hmmm…
So check out the game in action (this is a video from the ios version)
As this was just announced, information about the port is scarce and we will continue to update as we recieve more information. Our hope is high for this game and it promises to be a “must have” for brawler fans.
I’m just happy that I have the excuse to play this again on my iPad over the next couple weeks so I compare it to the Mac App Store version.
